Overview
We have an opportunity for a charismatic and talented Essex-based professional musician to join our team to run choirs in or near Stowmarket, Hadleigh & Halstead. This a rewarding position musically. We were the first contemporary choir in the UK and remain the most popular and high-profile. We have won three Guinness World Records, achieved two top-twenty albums, and been the subject of a three-part ITV1 documentary The Choir That Rocks.
Applicants should have very competent piano and vocal skills and a charismatic and energetic personality. There is no need to have led choirs before but commitment and self-motivation is paramount. The role is a fulfilling one, with the chance to change people’s lives through our music, performance and teaching.
Our Leaders teach 3 or 4 evenings a week during term time and have long summer holidays. You would lead your choir members to concerts on a local and national basis. We have a supportive and friendly HQ team who provide you with all the training, resources and arrangements you need to lead your choirs to the best of your ability and you would also train once a month with your peers. There is also the opportunity to be part of recording experiences, and TV and radio appearances!
You also have the chance for career development in specialist areas once you are settled as a choir leader.

I spend my week teaching amazing communities how to sing in harmony in a really fabulous and safe environment. My favourite moment of every session is watching a choir sing through a section of a song in harmony, with full confidence and watch their faces when they hear how amazing they sound! I have been with Rock Choir for 16 years and I am looking forward to what the future brings.” Sam Smith (Surrey Rock Choir Leader)
